    48Bit RAW to PNG

    • Correctly converts most RAW formats to 16bit per channel PNG (48bit)

    • Keeps the raw gamma channel as perceptive gamma

This is a petition to AI engineers and photographers alike. I have seen may "RAW" images encoded as JPG or even 8Bit "Lossless" PNG.

    Photographers:

Please use TIFF or a format that can keep the 16bit color with minimal losses.

    AI engineers

I am working on a VAE that trains and supports 16bit encoding and decoding.

Could we not using GAN or some other method train the a AI model to restore the losses from 0-255 RGB to 0-65k RBG?

A tool that 90% restores 8bit color to 16bit color would be useful for many reasons.

If such training has been done already please link to it.
