Dataset Tools: Updates and the Future

Updates? Well here's the thing, it went from Tkinter to Pyqt6 to attempting Tkinter one last time to mostly Settling on Pyqt6. But right now I am considering moving to Electron, now if I have to hear "I DONT LIKE CHROME" and y'all are AI users -- and you're on Civitai and you use Brave, Firefox or otherwise - i'm going to remind you that while your privacy is valid, and that you don't like chromium because that's what's bundled with Electron...
Tough beans if that's like the ONLY Reason you don't like it lol. HOWEVER if you have specific reasons why you don't want me to change the way this app current looks for any particular reason, or you have security reasons why I shouldn't do electron let me know.
Tkinter doesn't work anymore for what this app does, it can get buggy and slow for how far I've taken this. I also think it's a pain in the ass to theme if you dont' already have a UI system. Pyqt6 isn't as "OPEN SOURCE" as i'd like and also it's a INSERT MILE LONG SWEAR WORDS THAT WOULD MAKE THIS ARTICLE XXX BECAUSE I CANT SHUT MY MOUTH --- Put it this way: PYQT6 itself needs therapy and retired out back with a super soaker.
In my opinion it was designed in such a way that limits the creativity and usefulness. It's also just as stupid as tkinter in that it's going to eat itself when you add too many threads and dealing with image transformation is just.. UGH. I know it's JUST "PYTHON" but pyqt6 has it's wormy way of integrating badly and poorly imho into your code and just causing things. I'm sure there's smarter people that can do what i'm doing and improve on it - but i'm also sure those people would use C++, dot net and QT that wasn't python.

Being on an Imac from 2019, and being on MacOS Ventura and not wanting to buy into Apple's yearly OS update ecosystem (I 'm only mac only for the most part because of my college degree and that ic an't afford a pc)
Pretty much mostly the first, see I tried to install Tauri, but homebrew shit the bed because Xcode11 was required and i can't update it if i don't have Sequoia or Tahoe.
I Don't understand much about other languages outside of HTML/CSS and while i'm not 100% familiar with Node and NextJS a lot of it's relative to the logic of website building - and that's stuff I tinkered with for years AND was taught HTML at a youngish age because y'know Elder millenial.
So yea beyond that if you have suggestions on what I could do instead based on my limitations - cool - go for gold. If you DON'T - cool, then we're pushing for electron in the next couple months.
2026 Update:
We have a WORKING PROTOTYPE but it's not exactly updated to any public branch yet. NodeJS is way better suited towards this.
HOWEVER: If you're still using the PYQT6 one: The newest dev branch which i forgot what it was called, i think ti's electron-poc - I have a fix for the rules engine PLUS an issue with the Pyproject missing a dependency.
On windows this causes ENTIRE HELL. Also yea sadly you can't use 3.14 Python with it, I tried - watched the world burn lol.
The dependency? OpenCV. You'll need the headless edition JUST in case it blows up with something, I researched this outside of JUST claude and gemini, and trust me the amount of documentation that said "JUST BE CAREFUL" meant that yea -- get the headless version if you don't want to fuss with fetching a new branch.
I am now ON WINDOWS after a bootcamp adventure, I use WSL to do much of my vibe coding because Powershell takes more ram than a power hungry republican senator who's married secretly to a gay democrat. (Kids: That's not a political jab, that's a political joke: At this stage in my life i'm fairly party fluid -- No party suits everyone, and i'm kinda bored of the crap they all pull lol.) This means that I have to deal with windows editing all my line endings on the file system for no apparent reason. (Nobody warned me.)
Good god it's only 7 days until I hit my third year here? AND I'VE TRIED TO LEAVE ONCE EVERY YEAR SINCE I ST.. ok five times a year likely .. This year i'm just gonna be quieter I promise!
