MOSS-Image now runs in Forge Neo: free text to image extension

MOSS-Image is a new open text to image model. ComfyUI runs it today, but Forge Neo does not, yet. So we made a small free extension that adds MOSS-Image to Forge Neo: the model, the text encoder, the VAE and one preset. You pick the model, type a prompt and press Generate. Every picture in this article was made with it.
What it does. MOSS-Image files show in the normal checkpoint list. A new UI preset, moss, sets the sampler, steps and size for you. You pick only the model file; the extension finds the text encoder and the VAE by itself. It is text to image only and does not change your other models or presets.
The three files. All from the MOSS-Image package on Hugging Face (Comfy-Org/MOSS-Image). The model, moss_image_sft_int8_convrot (5.4 GB, or the 10.2 GB bf16), goes in models/Stable-diffusion. The text encoder, qwen3.5_9b_int8_convrot (9.7 GB, or the 19.3 GB bf16), goes in models/text_encoder. flux2-vae (0.3 GB) goes in models/VAE. On a card with more than 40 GB the extension picks the bf16 text encoder first, on a smaller card the int8 one.
Install. Put the extension folder in Forge's extensions folder, or use Extensions, Install from URL. Close Forge fully and start it again. Pick the UI preset moss, pick the MOSS-Image model, type a prompt, Generate.
The moss preset. Euler, Simple, 25 steps, CFG 2.5, 1024 x 1024. The shift is fixed at 5.0, the value the model is made for. Steps and CFG change like with any other model.
Tested on. Forge Neo neo-2.30.1 (the neo branch, 21 October 2026) on an RTX 5090 with 32 GB, with the int8 model and the int8 text encoder at 1024 x 1024 and 25 steps. The first picture took about 80 seconds with the model load; the next ones are faster.
When Forge Neo adds MOSS-Image itself. The Forge Neo team is building MOSS-Image support into Forge. If you update to that version, the extension sees the built-in support and switches itself off. Nothing breaks; you can then remove its folder and use Forge's own MOSS preset. If you keep your current Forge, keep the extension. It keeps working and you do not have to update Forge for MOSS-Image.
Licence. The extension code is free and open (GPL-3.0). The MOSS-Image model has its own licence ; read it on the model page.
