AI Canvas Tauri: A Free, Lightweight Creative Workspace for ComfyUI, Images, and Video
Hi everyone! I’d like to share AI Canvas Tauri, a free desktop app that brings AI image generation, ComfyUI workflows, storyboards, video editing, and asset management into one visual workspace.
The idea is to keep the different parts of a creative project connected. Prompts, character references, generated images, shot plans, and video clips can live together on a canvas, making it easier to follow a project from an initial idea to an edited sequence.
What can you do with it?
Build visual workflows. Arrange and connect text, images, video, audio, and storyboard nodes on an expandable canvas.
Connect ComfyUI. Use your ComfyUI server and workflows alongside your references, assets, and shot plans.
Develop characters and stories. Organize character references, voices, scenes, and props. Give each episode its own canvas while sharing assets across a series.
Edit video in the same app. Assemble clips on a multitrack timeline, add captions and transitions, adjust audio, and export your video.
Work through conversation. Use the built-in AI agent to inspect and modify the canvas. An optional MCP server also lets compatible external AI tools work with the canvas and editing projects.
Extend the workspace. Add plugins for additional tools, nodes, and interfaces.
For example, you could start with a character reference and a scene outline, lay out a storyboard, generate images through ComfyUI or a connected model provider, then bring your clips into the editor. The canvas keeps the supporting material organized around the work.
AI Canvas Tauri uses Tauri 2 for a lightweight desktop foundation. Projects and media are stored locally, and you choose which ComfyUI servers or model providers to connect.
The app is free to use. External model APIs may charge for generation, and ComfyUI workflows depend on your own models, custom nodes, and hardware. The source code is publicly available under the project’s source-available license; the repository includes the full terms for reuse and redistribution.
You can explore the interface in the browser demo. For native file access and the full set of desktop features, download the desktop app.
Feedback from ComfyUI users and AI creators would be especially helpful. If you try it, I’d love to hear which parts fit your workflow and where the experience could be smoother.
