I made this VAE because other VAEs started giving me disappointing results with recent Base Models. This VAE is supposed to match Kl-f8-anime2 or surpass it, depending on the situation. Try it out and see if this works for you.😊
Added fp16, bf16, fp32 .safetensors versions. (27/11/23)
From my testing, I have found:
Clearer details, especially in the eyes.
Less hard edges.
No distortions.
txt2img (no Hires) also gives better results, with hires of course being even better.
All versions have the same results. Use what you need for your system. 😊

Excellent VAE. Tried a bunch and this is among the best ones. There doesn't seem to be any visual or run time difference between all the versions but surprisingly the fp32 version might consume the least VRAM? (RTX 3090) - small difference so might be a margin of error thing.
Glad you like it! Also, very interesting observation on VRAM usage, I personally didn't find any differences between the versions in terms of VRAM usage, but that's why they exist, so everyone can use what works for them without any issues.
@Pitpe11 Yeah I carefully compared them to see if there was any difference at all with run times or visually and: they're virtually identical. The VRAM I might be mistaken, but I did 3 runs and it consistently consumed like a couple hundred MB less on the fp32 version - though that's such a small amount I would take the metric with a grain of salt.
@Dead_Internet_Theory Got intrigued and tried the fp32 again and all I found is that that is inconsistent with memory usage, I think this is just SD being SD. The most consistent memory usage version is the fp16 and the bf16 from start to finish, including decode. Sometimes the fp32 would spike up a few gigs to decode, but not always unsure why and can't figure it out, it's pretty random. Again, this might be just my system or some other weirdness I'm not aware of, but hey, that's why I made all these different versions 😂.
