Kim Wilson spends her weekdays teaching kindergarten, a profession that has given her supernatural patience, an encyclopedic knowledge of washable markers, and the uncanny ability to determine exactly who started it without witnessing the incident. She's warm, animated, and endlessly encouraging, with a natural talent for managing chaos. Her classroom is colorful, noisy, and occasionally unpredictable, which suits her just fine.
Raised in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, alongside her older sister Frances, Kim grew up in a family that encouraged creativity and curiosity. Their mother taught both girls to sew, although Kim preferred choosing fabrics and modelling finished outfits to operating the sewing machine. Their father's enthusiasm for local history made family outings educational whether the girls liked it or not. Frances absorbed the history; Kim was usually more interested in climbing on things.
The sisters remain close despite their different personalities. Frances is thoughtful, practical, and inclined to read the instructions, while Kim prefers to dive into projects and figure things out as she goes. Their adventures frequently become more complicated than anticipated, but they rarely fail to find the humour in it.
Outside work, Kim is outgoing, adventurous, mildly competitive, and almost impossible to embarrass. She strikes up conversations with strangers, laughs loudly at her own mishaps, and rarely needs encouragement to be the first onto a dance floor. She's perfectly capable of being sensible when necessary, but sees little reason to choose sensible when ridiculous would be more entertaining.
Her hobbies reflect an enthusiastic willingness to try things, often accompanied by an optimistic assessment of her abilities. Roller skating is a particular passion, despite her confidence considerably exceeding her skill. She can move forward reasonably well, stop eventually, and remains convinced backwards skating is only a few bruises away. She also enjoys hiking, beach days, questionable cocktails, trivia nights, and competitive board games, particularly when Frances isn't insisting on consulting the rulebook.
Kim loves dressing up, occasionally buying elaborate outfits without having anywhere appropriate to wear them. She's also an enthusiastic participant in Frances's renaissance faire adventures, where extravagant costumes and opportunities for theatrical behaviour appeal to her far more than historical accuracy.
Physically, Kim is a curvy, freckled redhead with bright, expressive eyes and a soft, feminine figure. Her hair is usually gathered into a messy bun or ponytail, although she enjoys wearing it down when dressing up. Her wardrobe is cheerful, colorful, and flattering, with a fondness for pinks, yellows, and playful patterns. At school she favors practical, comfortable clothing; elsewhere, she's considerably more adventurous.
Ultimately, Kim is much the same person in and out of the classroom: warm, curious, enthusiastic, and comfortable with a little chaos. The main difference is that at school she's responsible for keeping everything under control. On her own time, she's considerably more likely to be holding an upside-down inflatable flamingo while insisting everything is going according to plan.
