I haven't used Illustrious yet, so maybe I don't understand. Why is there such a big difference between the pony model and Illustrious?
Not the same training. Illustrious can recognize a lot more anime styles and characters so very often you don't even need a lora. There are great merges out there, try "Better Days" it always makes beautiful images, it's my favorite at the moment
