KONSTANTIN KOROVIN — RUSSIAN IMPRESSIONIST LIGHT | LoRA (Krea2 / Epoch 20)
One weight slider — and the frame fills with the vibrating, sun-warmed light of a Russian Impressionist: quick confident brushwork, shimmering shadows in ultramarine and violet, warm ochre and vermilion notes, genre scenes at tea tables and Parisian cafés, theatrical boxes and garden verandas. The atmosphere is always alive — light moves, fabric breathes, conversation hums just outside the frame.
About the Artist

Konstantin Alekseyevich Korovin (December 5, 1861, Moscow — September 11, 1939, Paris) — Russian Impressionist painter, stage designer, writer; brother of the landscape painter Sergei Korovin; close friend of Serov, Levitan and Polenov.

Studied at the Moscow School of Painting under Perov and Polenov; became the first true Russian Impressionist — his Portrait of the Chorister (1883) predates most of the French movement's Russian reception.

Principal scenic designer for the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theatres; designed pavilions for the 1900 Paris World Fair; became chief designer for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes.

Emigrated to Paris in 1923, spent his final years painting luminous boulevard scenes, café terraces and flower still-lifes to support his family.

Signature: vibrating, loose brushwork with confident impasto highlights; ultramarine and violet shadows against warm ochre, vermilion and emerald notes; plein-air light on faces and fabric; theatrical staging of everyday genre scenes (tea tables, balconies, café terraces, opera boxes); masterful night-light and lantern-glow scenes.

The Manner

Light as subject: sunlight on lace, lamplight on a silk dress, gaslight on a wet boulevard — every painting is a study of light passing through atmosphere.

Broken brushwork: quick, decisive strokes that read as shimmering vibration at a distance and confident gesture up close.

Chromatic shadows: shadows painted in ultramarine, violet and emerald — never grey or black.

Genre intimacy: women at tea, families on verandas, actresses in dressing rooms, friends at café tables — always caught mid-gesture, mid-conversation.

Theatrical sensibility: composition always staged like a proscenium — balcony railings, table edges, proscenium arches frame the subject.

Parisian and Russian registers: both the warm northern light of Abramtsevo and the warm gaslight of the Boulevard des Capucines sit naturally in the same hand.

Tested Generation Settings (Krea2 / Flux Base)
ParameterValueLoRAKOROVIN_krea2_3373735_epoch_20Base modelKrea2 (Flux architecture)Steps / Sampler / Guidance28 / DPM++ 2M Karras / 3.5 (Flux + Impressionism wants room to breathe)Resolution1024×1280 (vertical portrait) / 1536×1024 (horizontal genre scene)LoRA weight0.85–1.0 (at 1.0 the violet shadows and impasto highlights lock in; below 0.8 the brushwork thins into generic oil painting)Positive-only disciplineRussian Impressionism, broken brushwork, ultramarine shadows, plein-air light, adults 25+, no children in frame
Trigger Words
Core Triggers:
in the manner of Konstantin Korovin
,
Korovin style
,
Russian Impressionist oil painting
,
Plein-air genre scene
Boosters:
broken brushwork
,
violet and ultramarine shadows
,
warm ochre and vermilion palette
,
impasto highlights
,
theatrical staging
,
gaslight
,
sunlight on lace

Versions
V1 (Epoch 20) — The Light & Atmosphere Edition. 40 lines covering the four main Korovin registers: Russian veranda scenes, Parisian café terraces, theatrical boxes and dressing rooms, flower still-lifes.
