While problematic in many respects by 21st-century standards, the Orientalist movement in Western art produced many beautiful paintings we would classify as pure fantasy today. Use this model to create your own fantastical creations, from dusty markets to luxurious harems and Turkish baths.
Trained on 25 carefully described paintings by Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904) sourced from public domain images.
Usage:
Include the phrase "19th-century Orientalist oil painting by Jean-Léon Gérôme” and use Flux-style natural language descriptions rather than SD-style comma-separated tokens. You can also use key terms like “Arabic architecture” and “Arabic clothing” (yes, that should probably be “Arabian,” oh well). I’ve provided a bunch of sample images you can remix in pinned posts in the gallery below.
Plays well with other LoRAs, including NSFW LoRAs to improve anatomy, character/face LoRAs, and similar style LoRAs like the excellent Ernest Normand LoRA by @darmox (linked in recommended resources below).

damn, I love orientalist paintings, this looks awesome! How big was the dataset? How versatile is this lora?
Thank you! Actually, I only used 25 images — kind of amazed it turned out so well myself. But I did specifically use several each of a big variety of images, so it can do baths, markets, street scenes, and various interiors. I did skip the big exterior landscape paintings with tiny people in the distance, but I could add those in a V2 if this is popular enough (and people want to use it to make general SFW images).
@SteelandLace Did you include any Renoir paintings? He doesn't have too many orientalist style paintings, BUT the ones he has could help with brushstrokes and more of a "painting" feel :))
@Norby123 Hmm, interesting suggestion. Brush strokes tend not to be especially visible in Gérôme paintings, and this LoRA is specifically designed to recreate his style. I could definitely do that for a more general painting style, though.
