but probably better to use the original sprites with img2img, upscale and turn them into slightly less pixelated versions, then use those images to train on

I think this accomplished what it was going for, what you are suggesting would be a completely different art style and not an 'improvement'.
@TheFoodMage it's good if that's what you were going for. I was thinking more about flexibility to ease up further blending with other FE and jrpg models.
