    Along with "Okame" and "Hannya," this is one of the most familiar masks to Japanese people.

    It is said to be modeled after a man blowing on a fire in a hearth with a bamboo tube.

    Hyotoko often appears as a clown in dances and dances at dengaku and festivals.

    There is also a character with this name in the manga "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba."

    「おかめ」や「般若」と並んで日本人には最も馴染みの深い面の一つです。

    竈の火を竹筒で吹いている男性の姿を模したもの、と言われています。(語源も火(を吹く)男が訛って「ひょっとこ」)

    ひょっとこは田楽や祭礼における舞いや踊りの中での道化役としてしばしば登場します。

    漫画「鬼滅の刃」にも、これを付けたキャラクターがいましたね。
