I think this is really cool! Did you ever see Brave Command Dagwon? It was on the same year and a lot of doujinshika had crossovers. It had a great visual style you might like if you liked Gundam Wing!
Sorry, I didn't even see Gundam Wing. It was a commission for SD1.5 so I had a dataset ready to redo it for Illustrious.
But I agree with you, some retro animes have nice visual style that current animes don't.
