This is based on the suit from the movie. I'd be curious to know if someone remembers this one. I'm very old and I remember renting this movie on VHS.

I remember this movie. I think that some suits and costumes made in the 80s look good and still hold up, and this is one example. It has a mix between earth looking while having alien elements to it to make a cool outfit.
Other ones that come to mind from the 80s and 90s are the suits in the live action Guyver movie, M.A.N.T.I.S., the aliens from Space Above and Beyond, The Bio Dread Empire from the show Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future, the Jaffa soldiers in their armor from the Stargate show, and among others.
Oh yeah M.A.N.T.I.S. I haven't thought about that for a long time!
@interfusor Neither have I. Of the ones listed, the aliens from the show Space Above and Beyond look cool. And the villains from the Captain Power show are some of the first to be made with CGI.
