I think the legal consensus was that the LoRA itself is yours bc it is transformative enough but since it depicts a copyrighted crapcom character, they have the rights over the outputs (just like fanart).
Not really sure if crapcom can state a DMCA over a LoRA when it itself has no parts that crapcom can claim copyright of.
But I am not an expert, so take this with a grain of salt.
I don't know much, but I am cautious about this. All training data comes from the game itself or the official artbooks , and Capcom undoubtedly holds copyright to these contents.
So far, Capcom has not released any documents related to AI. But after reviewing Capcom's copyright policy on videos, I can at least believe that this LORA should not be used for commercial purposes.
@FNSOIDATHQ I agree with you. For now, model training can be done with any material. And fan content can be made in any form as long as crapcom doesn't complain and send a takedown. What is/should be forbidden is commercial purpose and enrichment using their characters and assets.
I say should be because there are paid mods for resident evil games that use the game characters and maybe their own assets. It is sure this goes against capcom policy guidelines but they have been letting this happen for several years. At least from 2019 when RE2R was released. Idk if it happened prior to that.
