Palekh miniature is a Russian folk art craft that developed in the village of Palekh in the Vyaznikovsky district of the Vladimir province (now the Palekh district of the Ivanovo region). Lacquer miniatures are made with tempera on papier-mâché. They are usually used to paint boxes, caskets, money boxes, brooches, paintings, ashtrays, tie pins, pincushions, etc.
