Gwendoline Christie is an English actress renowned for her distinctive roles in television and film. Born on October 28, 1978, in Worthing, West Sussex, England, she initially pursued a career in gymnastics before a spinal injury led her to acting. She graduated from the Drama Centre London in 2005.

Christie's breakthrough role came as Brienne of Tarth in the HBO series "Game of Thrones" (2012–2019), where she portrayed a formidable female warrior. Her performance earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2019.

In film, she is recognized for playing Captain Phasma, a high-ranking stormtrooper, in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015) and its sequel "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" (2017).
