A bit of an experiment. This was trained on Duke Nukem 3D assets. I was curious to see if it'd be able to get the backgrounds to look like DN3D environments or characters to be in the same style as the sprites.

Let me participate in your experiment and follow for future contents, thank you.
I personally think environments not related to Duke might not work well?
This piques my interest. I'm assuming all training data adheres to the Duke3d default color palette. Going solely by generations, it looks like some upscaling had been done on the data beforehand, but I could be wrong here. Mostly I'm just curious about your process, as a one time avid Duke modding aficionado.
The training set includes various sprites and textures ( about 402 ) extracted from the Atomic Edition. There's a minimum resolution of 256x256, so the sprites and textures had to be resized. In terms of upscaling, it was simply linear and as-is.
@hino_arashi Nice to hear. Now there's one more thing I was wondering, and that's about using screenshots to train the model on things like, the geometry and composition of what certain environments look like, to give it an even Dukier vibe. Is that a consideration? If so, I'd be down for scouring some of the maps to get some different angles on places of interest.
@bh_miscreant I would imagine it'd help to give the model some contextual clue as how to portray environments in the Build engine. Sounds cool.
