Jan Smithers is an American actress best known for her role as Bailey Quarters on the television sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati (1978–1982). Her character, a smart and capable newswoman, was often portrayed as the "girl next door" in contrast to Loni Anderson’s glamorous Jennifer Marlowe. Over the years, Bailey Quarters became a fan favorite, especially among viewers who appreciated her quiet confidence and intelligence.

Smithers’ career in Hollywood began somewhat by chance—she was discovered as a teenager when a photographer captured an image of her for a 1966 Newsweek cover story about the youth culture of the time. This exposure led to opportunities in modeling and acting.

Aside from WKRP in Cincinnati, she appeared in TV shows such as The Love Boat, Starsky & Hutch, and Murder, She Wrote, as well as some TV movies.
