Christy Clark is a Canadian politician who served as the 35th Premier of British Columbia from 2011 to 2017. Born on October 29, 1965, in Burnaby, British Columbia, she attended Simon Fraser University, the Sorbonne in France, and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, focusing on political science and religious studies. ​

Clark began her political career in 1996, winning a seat in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia for the riding of Port Moody-Burnaby Mountain. She served as Deputy Premier, Minister of Education, and Minister of Children and Family Development under Premier Gordon Campbell. ​

After a brief hiatus from politics starting in 2005, during which she worked as a radio host and columnist, Clark returned to the political arena. She won the leadership of the BC Liberal Party in 2011 and subsequently became Premier. During her tenure, she focused on economic development, particularly in establishing the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in the province.
