Born on July 18, 1983, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Gee was raised in Aurora, Ontario. She is of Ojibwe descent. She pursued acting studies at the University of Windsor, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. ​

Theater Career

Gee began her acting career on stage in Toronto, earning acclaim for performances in productions such as Margaret Atwood's The Penelopiad, Daniel MacIvor's Arigato, Tokyo, and Tomson Highway's The Rez Sisters. ​

Film and Television Career

In 2013, Gee made her feature film debut in Empire of Dirt, portraying a First Nations mother striving to mend her relationship with her daughter. This role garnered her an American Indian Movie Award and a nomination for Best Actress at the Canadian Screen Awards. ​

Gee starred as Kat Loving in the CBC television series Strange Empire (2014–2015), a Western drama centered on a group of women facing challenges in the 1860s Canadian frontier. ​

From 2017 to 2022, she portrayed Camina Drummer in the science fiction series The Expanse, a role that expanded throughout the series and became a fan favorite. ​

In 2020, Gee appeared alongside Harrison Ford in Disney's adaptation of The Call of the Wild, playing the character Françoise. ​

In 2023, she joined the cast of the Netflix series Sweet Tooth for its third season, portraying the character Siana.
