She gained fame in the 1980s as a member of the "Brat Pack," starring in iconic films like The Breakfast Club (1985) and St. Elmo's Fire (1985). Her other notable works include WarGames (1983), Short Circuit (1986), and High Art (1998), for which she won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead.
