I lied a little: it’s not pure VHS – the Sony ProMavica MVC-5000 is a still-video camera that saves single video frames to floppy disks.
Yep, it’s another VHS-flavored LoRA—but this isn’t the washed-out 2000s Analog Core you’ve seen a hundred times. Think ProMavica after a spa day: cleaner grain, moodier contrast, and even the occasional surprisingly pretty bokeh. Sometimes the renders feel like raw frames yanked straight out of a mid-’90s TV drama. Either way, the vibe is crisp-but-crunchy cinema, not filmed-on-a-toaster.
Why bother?
• More cinematic shadows & color depth—perfect for moody hallways, subway grime, or burning-hillside beach scenes (see samples).
• Plays nice with portraits: faces stay sharp, and hands come out spookily perfect 90 % of the time.
• Still keeps that sweet lo-fi noise, chroma wiggle, and subtle smear, so nothing ever feels too modern.

do you plan to make loras for chroma as well?
Yes. I'm still waiting for the final version, but I'm not sure if I really need to wait for it
@Danrisi damn true, v41 it's already out so I think you should give it a try, it's really the next level
@alternative_Universe Yeah, I try every version when it's released. I mostly use it for illustrations — for me, it still struggles a bit with some details in realistic images. But for illustrations, it’s insanely good — even better than Illustrious (without LoRAs)
@Danrisi really? i was expecting you would go straight photorealism, but still what cfg and sampler do you recommend?
@alternative_Universe i used cfg 5 and sampler dpmpp2m + linear_quadratic
@Danrisi I think you should wait for it. There is a repository of chroma loras linked by lodestone on the huggingface, and if you try them, you can see that over time the newer ones are clearly more effective than the older ones. The model receives an update every week. I will say since maybe 37+ the model has been more stable, but if you watch lodestone.rock they have runs all day every day. I would learn flux because newer flux loras will still work on chroma, some perfectly. I don't know what settings, but half the flux loras I have used from the site work well enough on chroma. Im sorry for the long text, but you're one of my favourite lora creators and Id hate for you to waste time retraining loras when you could wait it out for a few more months making flux loras that will always work
@makiaevelio543 Thanks so much for the heads-up (and the kind words). I’ve noticed the same thing—Chroma’s moving fast and v37+ already feels way stabler than the early builds. I’m leaning toward exactly what you suggest, thanx again 😄
@Danrisi It's got fantastic at photorealism and also creating 00's pictures like yours in just the past few iterations. The greatest thing about chroma is its exceptional prompt adherence.
@Beans1134 Speaking of that, are you using the T5 FLAN version or just vanilla T5 like for FLUX?
@olivetty i heared flan messes with limbs more then vanilla t5
@Danrisi Ah, good to know!
We are so back.
Yo, long time no see. Thought you dipped from Civitai — good to have you back 😄
Thanks will check it out on runpod.
Looks very good. Thanks.
Such great work from you! Thank you!
Such a nostalgic and unique style. You did such a great job, it really takes me down memory lane. Thank you!
