- Post‑Processing Boost: Though the first pass using resolutions like 832×1216 may seem modest, applying I2I 1.5 × upscale and Facedetailer instantly transforms the image into a stunning result, dramatically enhancing sharpness, color depth, and skin gloss.
- The character’s hands sometimes appear inconsistent or less refined; a secondary refinement tool or node may help stabilize those details.
- After rigorous testing, FrancoIL not only shines at the conventional SDXL resolutions like 832×1216, but it also scales gracefully to larger canvases such as 1248×1824 -- where the first pass delivers a markedly richer and sharper result.
Feel free to adjust the settings to suit your workflow. Both 20‑step Euler and 8‑step Res‑2s approaches yield excellent outputs after the recommended upscaling and detail enhancement.

This checkpoint officially made it to my top list (and trust me, my ranking is very, very, very picky).
The best part about this checkpoint? The LIGHTING. I seriously wanna know what kind of deal OP made with the demons to get lighting this gorgeous. It’s not just light, it has this hazy, misty layer on top, and the effect looks insanely good on portraits. At first, I thought it only nailed bright lighting, but nope! the dark tones and backlighting are also ridiculously beautiful.
I feel like this checkpoint is perfect for fantasy-style pics, giving that epic vibe. I still wanna test it out more with high angles, perspective/foreshortening tags, especially those dramatic shots from above looking down, but I think it’ll handle them really well.
As for hands, honestly I don’t expect perfection there, so I’m not gonna nitpick. For me, it’s totally fine. It follows prompts nicely too.
Even though OP recommended using Beta for the sampler schedule, my webui (forge) always gave me jpeg artifacts and adetailer wouldn’t work. I switched to Karras and everything turned out fine.
Overall: the lighting in this checkpoint is absolutely breathtaking.

As for the astonishing lighting, I think it's the result of merging several different loras chosen to enhance light, depth, and that "hazy, misty" effect you described. My goal was to bake that rich, atmospheric quality directly into the model, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I also really appreciate the tip about the scheduler. I just gave karras a try based on your feedback, and I agree it's a great alternative. It seems to produce a cleaner image with slightly better hands, while Beta can sometimes be a bit more "chaotic" but adds more background elements and texture. That's very helpful!
