    🚀 Wan2.2 ULTIMA Experiments for Wanvideo2Image

    I’ve been testing the Wan2.2 ULTIMA 14B F8 Low & High Noise models (T2V + I2V) inside Wanvideo2Image, and the results are 🔥.

    Important:
    👉 Ksampler 1 should always be Wan2.2 ULTIMA I2V 14B F8 CLEAN HIGH (uploaded here).

    • This model has no baked-in LoRAs, making it perfect for the “foundation pass.”

    • Keep CFG ~3–4 here for smooth motion + strong prompt response.

    After that, you can stack/mix I2V High/Low and T2V High/Low models. Each combo changes how motion, texture, and coherence play out.

    Okay, so the three model approach doesn't seem to be working for 12GB VRAM. I can generate with two I2V models no problem, but when I adapt the recommended workflow to use all three of the models, VRAM hits 99% almost as soon as a generation runs...

    It manages to get past the Clean High model's sampling at a crawling speed but then indefinitely hangs with 98%+ VRAM usage on the High noise sampler. I even have VRAM clearing nodes between each of the samplers as per the original workflow but it's not helping...

    I've tried restarting ComfyUI and trying three times now and each time the same thing has happened - catastrophically high VRAM overloading from the start...

    I also tried using the T2V models with the WanVideoWrapper setup (the above I2V was with the native comfy workflows to clarify) but was having serious issues with memory on that too. That said, I think that's just the WVW — unless I literally block swap everything, even a 512 x 512 generation at less than 81 frames that any native comfy workflow would walk ends up with stupidly high VRAM usage. I'm starting to think that my PC just doesn't like the wrapper

    Yeah, that’s a very common trap with chaining multiple I2V/T2V models on a 12 GB card. What’s happening here is that the models aren’t truly releasing their allocations even when you drop VRAM clearing nodes, so each new stage “leaks” into memory until you’re out of headroom.

    Even if you add clear VRAM or unload model nodes, ComfyUI still keeps memory tied up until the whole run finishes. That means when you chain 4 KSamplers with 4 models, all 4 eventually end up sitting in VRAM at once → way more than 12 GB can handle.

    👉 On a 12 GB card, the only fix is to split the run (2 models → save → reload → next 2).

    Here are some ways to make it work (or at least limp along) on 12 GB

    How to Run 4 KSamplers on 12 GB VRAM

    WAN2.2 models (~13.3 GB fp8) are too big to load 4 at once. You have to split the workflow.

    Steps:

    First pass (2 models):

    Load your first 2 models → connect them to 2 KSamplers.

    After the 2nd KSampler, add a Save Latent node (saves to disk).

    Second pass (next 2 models):

    Start a fresh workflow or disable the first 2 samplers.

    Add a Load Latent node (load the saved file).

    Connect it to your 3rd and 4th KSamplers.

    Final step:

    After the 4th KSampler, decode the latent → get your final image/video.

    Why this works:
    You only keep 2 models in VRAM at once. VRAM fully resets between passes, so 12 GB is enough.

    🧠 Rule of Thumb

    On 12 GB VRAM, three full I2V passes at high res just isn’t sustainable in a single run. The stable way is to break it up into multiple workflows and stitch results. Anything else is a gamble with hangs.

    ❌ Why 4 KSamplers + 4 Models Don’t Work on 12 GB

    Even with Unload or Clear VRAM nodes, ComfyUI keeps memory until the run ends, so all 4 models stack up in VRAM → crash.

    ✅ Solutions

    Split the run:

    Run 2 models (2 KSamplers) → Save Latent → reload → continue with the other 2.

    Simplify models (easier on 12 GB):

    Use only High + Low models with 4 KSamplers.

    Example:

    KSampler 1 → Low model

    KSampler 2 → High model

    Save the output to latent.

    Load the latent and continue.

    KSampler 3 → Low model

    KSampler 4 → High model

    This way you only keep 2 models in VRAM, but still run 4 sampling passes.

    ❌ Why 4 KSamplers + 4 Models Don’t Work on 12 GB

    Why Save Latents?

    VRAM Reset – lets you split big workflows into smaller passes; memory is fully freed between runs.

    Checkpointing – you can stop after any stage and continue later without starting over.

    Consistency – the latent is a “frozen state,” so reloading it gives the exact same base to experiment from.

    Flexibility – you can try different models, samplers, or strengths on the same saved latent without re-running the whole chain.

    Speed – you don’t need to redo heavy steps (like denoising/first models) when testing later stages.

    I forgot to add that 2 models High and Low are actually enough to make high quality videos.
    Use the IV2 CLEAN HIGH model with IV2 LOW. First ksampler cfg at 4 or 5, second ksampler cfg at 1.5 or 2.

    If you prefer IV2 High (which contains lightning) both ksampler's cfg should have 2 or lower.

    I can update the workflow with 2 models if you want :)

    Aha! I tried running that workflow and the same thing happened bizarrely - 98% VRAM and a silent hang before a step could be generated. Waited about 10 minutes before confirming it as a lost cause... then I noticed the linking nodes above the samplers and pulled the KSampler panels away and I think I've found the true cause... the torch compile nodes!

    I don't know why, but my PC won't do torch compile nodes - it automatically throws a VRAM fit and silently hangs. Sage Attn is fine, even the 'FP16 accumulation' node is usually okay. But anything remotely inductor-y throws it into oblivion... I will try removing these torch compilers and will see how both workflows go... knowing my PC and the mad things it can do on its 12gb VRAM, I suspect the original workflow may even work now... I'll share the results if it works!

    I was hoping to have had something to upload by now but in editing the workflow to connect an additional sampler, I got lost in the spaghetti and wired the samplers wrong so, understandably, part way through the generation I got static :P Fingers crossed I've fixed the technical wiring issue and should have something to show for it very soon!

    I keep getting blurry bad results when trying the first setup (I2V Clean, I2V High, I2V High, I2V Low), but I think it's because I have sooo many high steps and barely any left for the low unless I use a silly step count... I'm going to give (I2V Clean, I2V High, I2V Low, T2V Low) a try with two steps per sampler so that there's an equal share between high and low models. I have a good feeling about this run... though I usually run 4-6 step generations so running 8-12 is definitely taking a fair bit longer! :P

    Uhh... how do you integrate T2V into the mix? My generation was moving along and then it hit the final T2V low sampler and my woman turned into some Tate Modern balloon animal LOL... Surely T2V will just make its own thing up rather than following the image input in the latent?

    @Seeker360 blurry bad results has nothing to do with using too many high noise models as long the last ksampler is using the Low noise. I think you messed up the ksampler steps. Check if they have the proper steps.

    1st ksampler start step = 0, end step = 4.
    2nd ksampler start step = 4, end step = 8.
    Also max total steps is important else it will get bad results.

    example:

    Stage 1: 2 steps.

    Stage 2: 4 steps.

    Stage 3: 8 steps.

    Total Steps: 12.


    Try giving 4 steps for IV2 CLEAN High noise, 2 steps for other high noise, and 4 steps for T2V Low noise

    Stage 1: 4 steps.

    Stage 2: 6 steps.

    Stage 3: 10 steps.

    Total Steps: 14.

    @OmegaWPN Hmm something is clearly going wrong - no matter what I try, the woman's face turns red and has some weird lines on it in the output... The only thing I can think is that it's caused by the CFG on the clean high model as the others are set to 1 (I've stripped it down to a simpler three sampler setup to try - the video itself comes out much clearer but this odd distortion issue which feels very CFG related to me is now killing it...)

    if i may ask this, i'm currently using i2v high and low, with lightx2v embedded, only 2 samplers ( clownsharks ), on 6 steps 3/3, or 10steps 5/5, and some lora's seems to not work at all, like creampie lora or male finisher lora. i just want to know if using 3 or 4 samplers method, would fix that, also if first clean high runs at 3-4 cfg, what would be the following 3 samplers cfg be at? i will probably download the clean high i2v and test but hearing from you and the recommended samplers specially in extended video workflows would help a ton. thanks

    2 ksmaplers should work as long you use high for the 1st ksampler and low on 2nd.
    If its a wan2.2 lora, then the high noise should have strength: 2.00 and low 0.85.

    Both I2V high and low except the clean version have Lightning and seko at different strenght.
    Lightning, Lightx2v, seko, Mps, etc do mess up loras so thats why you should always use a base model on the 1st ksampler without Lightning, Lightx2v, seko, mps, etc and CFG should be between 3 and 5.

    First ksampler: start step 0, end step 4,
    Second ksampler: start step 4, end step 8.
    Max total steps = 8. ( 10 would be better but it online refines little bit more)

    @OmegaWPN i was using lora strength at 1 high - 1 low, will try to add it at 2 strength for the high noise - 0.85 for the low as 2 samplers and see, also downloading the clean high noise atm, if i use 4 samplers method, 1st start 3-4 cfg, but what cfg should i use on the other 3? also 1.5 or can use 1? thanks so much for responding by the way <3, i m excited to get the best possible results.

    @bogysmsm129 When setting up your model loaders with LoRAs, the strength depends on whether you’re using Lightning and how many model loaders are in play:

    LoRA Strength Guidelines

    First model loader (with Lightning): LoRA strength = 2.00

    First model loader (without Lightning / clean version): LoRA strength = 1.00

    Second model loader (with Lightning): LoRA strength = 1.00

    4-model loader method: LoRA strength = 0.80 (keep it lower to avoid oversaturation)

    CFG (Classifier-Free Guidance) Tips

    Use CFG between 4 and 6 with IV2 CLEAN HIGH→ gives more stable motion and stronger prompt adherence without overcooking the video.

    Lower CFG (closer to 4) = smoother, more natural motion.

    Higher CFG (closer to 6) = more detail and prompt accuracy.

    @OmegaWPN i'm officially going crazy right now. i have tried the 4 samplers workflow ( only removed the torch compile nodes ) because i have 12gb vram, tried the same lora loaders with exactly same strengths as the workflow - didn't work, and tried to adjust it to 0.85 on all models, didn't work, i tried 1str on all, didn't work, even 2 on high 1 on low and still didn't work.

    in that link, i did put the image im using - one video extended, with lora's ( one of them are the creampie ), which is not working for me at all, and also male finisher lora, dream4all does seem to work. also when i tried 2/1 strengths with only 2 samplers, the action was super fast and messy. with 4 samplers its stable, just lora not working i know this is too much. and i have no clue if you will even consider looking at these, i have attached the workflow exactly as i'm using it. please if you did look into this, let me know if you can get that lora to work or male finisher. i really like your models, but this is driving me nuts

    @bogysmsm129 I am guessing the power lora was causing the issue. I could not find the creampie lora you were using so instead i tried this one: https://civitai.com/models/1941545/creampie-anime-inspired-vaginalanaloral-wan-22-i2v-14b

    I couldn't fully test it out without the lora you were using but its working now.

    I edited th steps for better motion. You dont really need to put too much details in wanimage2video. Little bit caption, and the rest tags.

    EDIT: nevermind. i am silly. i see in description this was tested with seko lora at .35 strength and this fixed my issue below. thank you . i will continue testing this check point further now.

    Today i was playing with an updated Wan2.2-I2V-A14B-4steps-lora-rank64-Seko-V1 lora. found it works better for motion in my tests. I then looked up to see if any newer checkpoints for 2.2 i2v and tried this out. sadly it doesn't seem to play nice with the lora, gets all blocky and degraded quality. i tried 4 and 6 steps and 1 cfg, 1.5, 2.0. no change. It's worst then the "smoothmixwan" checkpoint i also tried. seems sticking to the standard i2v fp8 scaled works best for me unless there is some drastic setting or node i am miss understanding.
