Oh, you know how it is. They kill him off, and he doesn't appear for the rest of the original series. Meanwhile, there's a small but devoted fandom posting Poochie fanart and fanfiction on the internet for 25 years and when they reboot I&S in the late 2010s, suddenly Poochie's part of the main cast, but with a different personality and voiced by some guy from Shelbyville instead of the inimitable Homer Simpson. Like, he's back, but can you really say he's "back" back?
