I remember the one episode where the fox character was the hero of the day and fought a lizard demon like this. Then, near the end, one of the usual characters just placed one of his talismans on the lizard demon and defeated him with ease.

I recall that initially, a lizard possessed the shrine, and the protagonist's priest companion used an amulet to purify it. Then, a village girl befriended a fox, but the lizard, expelled from the shrine, targeted the “shard” the girl possessed. It disguised itself as the girl's brother, who was away on military duty, to get close to her. The fox discovered its true form, and after being struck by flames, it transformed into a lizard-human. Enraged, the lizard-man transformed into a giant lizard and overwhelmed the fox with its superior strength, cornering it. But the protagonist punched it senseless, and the priest stabbed it with his staff. After the battle, I loved the protagonist's casual remark, something like, “By the time I arrived, the lizard had already been defeated by this guy (fox).”

@shin_ramen Yeah. Good show. The new season with the children of the main characters I didn't find to be as good though. Some parts it was like they were rushing to use past moments from the original show. The main bad guy looked cool in his mask though.

@adondlin255 I feel like there were moments in Yashahime where you could glimpse the prevailing trends of the times or the creators' own circumstances.

Or maybe I've just grown too old.

Even so, this lizard demon makes a brief appearance in the sequel. It gets taken out instantly though...

@shin_ramen Yeah. In my experience, the cool characters have the tendency to not last long or not shown as much.

Especially in the 90s with characters like Harakht from the cartoon Conan the Barbarian. Cool looking hawk demon bird with a well done and epic muscle inflation scene where one of the main characters (Falconeer) gets turned into him while tied up in an eye candy looking scene. He is so cool and can easily fight Conan one on one, but lasts only one show and gets taken out embarrassingly by the phoenix comic relief. That character is one of my first loras.

Another early lora of a character that lasted too short is Raven the Trickster from the cartoon Gargoyles the Goliath Chronicles. It's not often one sees a beefy muscle bound raven anthro.

@adondlin255 Human body with a bird's head—a naked character is great!

But non-human characters tend to be the ones who get beaten up, don't they? Their scenes are over in just a flash.

For player characters, I can only think of Balbaroy from Shining Force and Olcadan from Soulcalibur.

Well, there are other things too, but what I'm concerned about is Enki Bilal's Horus. He has crow-like features and is completely naked, but considering his name, is he a hawk rather than a crow? He's the main character, so he'll keep appearing throughout the story.

Since he's a character who appears completely naked with a simple design and even has a movie version, I'm considering whether I can create his LORA.

@shin_ramen Harakht did a good fight against Conant, and was even close to taking him out. It was such a one sided fight, which made his defeat annoying since all what happened was that the phoenix bird comic relief took his feather back and the demon hawk could no longer possess Falconeer. Raven the Trickster was a full on anthro, part raven anthro and part gargoyle look.

Speaking of Olcadan, I made a lora on him as well.

@adondlin255 It's such a waste when well-designed characters get thrown away. They are designed to be absolutely incapable of defeating the protagonist's side characters, and even if they do win, it's merely a temporary reprieve. I want to keep watching those characters for as long as possible, but their scenes always end in the blink of an eye.

I think it's a good sign of the times that we can now see all the different sides of them that we never got to see back then, in this way.

Ah, So you'd already made Olcadan's LORA! He's got a really sexy look.

@shin_ramen Back in the day I call that trope where the villains always lose despite everything as 'The mandatory requirement'.

@adondlin255 In anime and comics, they inevitably vanish from the story, powerless against the creator's will,

but, In games, there are occasionally enemies whose appearance appeals to me, allowing me to progress all the way to clearing the game without fighting them. So I aim to clear the game without defeating those enemies.

However, in games, it's sometimes possible to progress without defeating such enemy characters, so I tend to avoid combat with them and move forward.

But even in those cases, they ultimately can't defeat the protagonist. Because if they did, the story would end.
