When creating this LoRA, we were faced with the question of what tag would be best for Balrog. The following options were considered: pokemon (creature), toaster creature, toaster, non-humanoid robot, and robot. Technically, he looks most like a robot, but a robot on danbooru is usually something vaguely resembling a humanoid creature with two legs and a head. A non-humanoid robot is too diverse and is usually something loud and mecha-like. There are about 300 images of toasters on danbooru, and the basic XL model should represent what a toaster is. So it would be foolish not to use the clarifying "toaster" tag, so I added the "creature" tag to it. It didn't turn out great, but it's acceptable. I like the pokemon (creature) tag, but it would add too many animalistic features to the character; paws and a tail would sometimes spontaneously appear. However, the pokemon (creature) tag has many advantages in terms of character interaction: they're cute, you can hug them, and you can ride them. And in this LoRA, the Pokémon (creature) tag is partially used for interactions with Balrog. Pokémon are typically small creatures, smaller than humans, and because of this, Balrog often ends up smaller than it should be. Perhaps it's worth trying to use the "creature" tag for interactions, or adding a clarifying size tag like "big toaster creature." Incidentally, Kftiger has a LoRA with a toaster, and there he uses the defining tag "robot" and the auxiliary tag "1other" for it.
Yes, I know Balrog isn't a toaster. He's a bar of soap. But it was easier to learn the model based on a toaster, since Balrog looks so much like one.
Most of the training images featured Curly and Quote alongside Balrog. These can cause robot ears to appear unintentionally on characters. Also, Sakamoto Sue and "Mimiga" can negatively affect the scene when used with the "dog" tag.
The model often draws multiple Balrogs. The "one toaster creature" tag might help fix this.
LoRA has trouble rendering multiple characters in a scene (three or more), with the model involuntarily attempting to replace one of them with a Balrog. Typically, the replacement is a male character, or a second female character.
The style of the source images is too cartoonish, adding adult tags may help specify the adult style
When training LoRA, tags from other characters from the Cave Story universe were used: curly_brace, quote_(cave_story), misery_(cave_story), sakamoto_sue, and mimiga. However, they won't display correctly.
