Mapinguari (Brazilian Folklore)

The Mapinguari is a legendary creature from Brazilian Amazonian folklore, described for centuries by Indigenous peoples and river communities. Considered a guardian of the forest, the Mapinguari is often portrayed as a giant with a single eye on its face, a huge mouth on its abdomen filled with sharp teeth, and long claws capable of tearing through trees.
