This year’s New Year avatar—
I chose a quieter approach.

I painted myself as a Lunar Year of the Horse illustration,
not exaggeratedly cute,
nor another generic doll-face.
My features were carefully preserved,
simply touched with the warmth of Eastern illustration.

The red is understated,
the gold just right.
Little horses, cloud patterns, and New Year blessings—
all placed gently, lightly.
The focus remains always on the person.

It feels more like a collectible keepsake for the New Year
than a fleeting digital effect.

Made to be used slowly,
viewed slowly—
and perfect for capturing “this year’s self” in a single portrait.
