Dejah Thoris is a fictional character from Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Barsoom novels. She is the Princess of Helium, the daughter of Mors Kajak, Jed of Lesser Helium, and the granddaughter of Tardos Mors, Jeddak of Helium.

She becomes the wife of John Carter, an Earthman transported to Mars, and they have two children, Carthoris and Tara. While she is often placed in a damsel in distress role, she is also portrayed as capable, independent, and able to survive and defend herself in the Martian environment.
