Kouji Shinasaka is a prominent manga creator celebrated for his gritty, high-stakes underworld narratives and intense psychological realism. Best known for the cult-favorite Mahjong series Tohai (Frozen), his work delves into the cold, calculated world of illegal gambling and survival. Shinasaka’s art style is characterized by sharp, detailed linework and a somber, cinematic atmosphere that perfectly captures the tension of life-and-death situations. Whether exploring the dark corners of society or the primal terror of survival horror in Monkey Peak, he remains a master of relentless pacing and visceral storytelling.

Did they ever explain what the deal with the monkeys was?
I didn't pay much attention to the plot (this manga is too long), I was just attracted by his artistic style, you can read the entire manga here: https://mangadex.org/title/1fc1355b-9c02-48e2-a457-094b592ecd9c/monkey-peak
@karl1688 Oh thanks, I read it a while back so i know generally what the plot and motivations were. But i must have missed where they explained what the motivations of the monkeys were, every time it was asked, there was just vague response about them 'having their reasons.' I don't want to spoil the story for anyone else though.
