You don't need synthetic data to make 3D model based models not 3D, just tag the pics "3D" and specify a style when generating. Done it several times.
Yeah, all of the CGI images in the training dataset are tagged as "3d".
I just think that diversifying the dataset with 2D images, especially for models like Anima, has it's advantages.
