Most but not all of the line art illustrations from Harry Volk's clip art agency were drawn by Thomas Sawyer, whose instantly recognizable detailed/sketchy drawings of 1950s–70s Caucasians graced many newspaper advertisements. Later in life, Sawyer switched to screenwriting the TV mystery series "Murder, She Wrote."
People often erroneously believed Harry himself drew all of the art he licensed, due to the prominent "© VOLK" seen next to the art.
