This model is an Anima checkpoint designed to replicate the western comic book aesthetic with cross-hatching and high-contrast ink shading, bold linework, and textured half-tone dot patterns typical of vintage print.
It builds off of the BatmanAnima checkpoint, which is designed to default to a more western cartoon aesthetic and strips away overly soft gradients and typical anime eye/face proportions in favor of sharp angular geometry, bold ink lines, and blocky, high-contrast shadowing.

I love it, but if you ever do an update, maybe some classic comic artists? Like jack kirby, rob liefeld, etc?
I'd love to see the most iconic DC look: José Luis García-López! But it would be great to see Kirby, Alex Toth, Will Eisner, Nick Cardy, George Perez, and other iconic artist styles. I pray Liefeld is not included in that, because I frankly think his work will not play well with other, much more technically solid styles.
@hushicho i just like the 90s radical design, its hard to imitate in vanilla models. maybe if someone made a lora instead.
I just uploaded a v2 with some incremental training on some of the artists mentioned in this thread. Had to go a bit more aggressive to get the style so v2 might lose a little bit of character diversity but I haven't tested it extensively.
@brucewayne123 I like the bodies of V2 better, but I like the face of v1 better, hmm.
It does beautiful composition and has a great traditional inked look! It's a little limited with regards to characters, and most male characters at least are squarely drawn somewhere in their 30s, no matter what you try to prompt them as, older or younger. However, it's really solid with backgrounds (which is significant) and its technique is excellent. Perhaps a bit more variety and range in subject training will make it more flexible.
Appreciate the detailed review. I don't seem to be having the same issue with character flexibility - just generated an older man without issue. Wonder if it's your CFG / other sampling inputs.
@brucewayne123 That's very possible, I haven't played with it as much in Anima. I'll toy around with it, because other than that, I really enjoy the model.
Hey so 1.0 of anima is out, I wonder if the new version would help with improvements for the comic look.
Hi - this is Anima Base v1.0
