横山宏氏の伝説的デザイン、マシーネンクリーガー：Maschinen Krieger　です。
プラモ好きな方にはお馴染みすぎますが、一応の説明を。
・・・と、思ったのですが模型界隈、しかも独特すぎる経緯で今日まで制作されていますので、長大な文章になります。ですので詳しくは【マシーネンクリーガー】でググってみてください。そもそも私も語れるほどは詳しくないのです。個人的にプラモは航空機と船舶が主なターゲットなもので＾＾；
しかーし、マシーネンクリーガーは別格です！
もうこのデザインでご飯3杯おかわり出来ますｗ

源流としては【ハインライン：宇宙の戦士】のパワードスーツで、そこにミクロマンを足して、色んなプラモの部品から新しいプラモを生み出す・・・って感じなんですが＾＾；

簡単に説明すると。
始まりは模型雑誌『ホビージャパン』1982年5月号の単発記事といいますから、40年以上の歴史がありまして、現在の流れとしては横山氏がスケッチを描き、それをモデラーが制作、仕上げ塗装を横山氏が行うというのが基本になっています。
特に人気があるモデルは、有名どころだとハセガワ、他にも数社がキット化もしてくれています。
・・・訳わからんですよね（笑）

ズバッというと模型発祥なんですよ。
原作の漫画があるとか、アニメがあるとか、そういったメディア展開があるわけではありません。
デザインやモデル制作は横山氏（もともと全制作も）そしてそこに梅本弘氏（戦史家・戦記作家・モデラー・＆編集者）という方が細かい設定やストーリーを後づけして世界観を作っています。（後に人気が出て横山氏本人が漫画にもされています）
なにを書いても紹介しきれない、というのはご理解いただけたはず（笑）
