WoRKs DoLL is a character-raising simulation game for Windows 95/98 released in 1999.
The story takes place in a world where humanoid machines called “亜人形 (A ningyo)” have become widespread. Much like physical AI in the modern world, sub-dolls have become a common part of the workforce in this world, serving in roles ranging from housework and childcare to butlers and even soldiers.
High-end “dolls” are not raised using pre-programmed accelerated education programs; instead, they are raised and educated by human hands, just like human children. The player takes on the role of “Takuhi,” an apprentice “Dollmaker” responsible for everything from manufacturing to educating the dolls.
He has just left his master’s side for the first time to strike out on his own and has just assembled his very first doll. The player’s goal is to raise this doll to become a top-tier doll.
This is one of the best Japanese PC games of the 1990s.
Players raise multiple dolls, enter them in competitions, sell them, and use the proceeds to expand their manufacturing and training facilities. The goal is to repeat this process to create the world’s finest “doll.”
“The best” means having high scores in all parameters. That doll must be able to play the piano flawlessly, cook meals on par with a high-end restaurant, possess a high level of cultural refinement, have the strongest combat skills, and excel in the bedroom. However, to create such a doll, you’ll lack both the funds and the facilities at the start.
Therefore, players will create, raise, and sell “marketable” dolls specialized in a single ability, using the proceeds to focus on developing their ultimate doll. Managing this process is incredibly fun.
The game features the demure and innocent “KASURI (飛白) ” type and the energetic and sensual “KUZUHA (樟葉)” type. Players will repeatedly assemble and sell these types.
This LoRA recreates the KASURI type.
How would you develop KASURI into a doll?
