"True" to whom exactly? History and flags are a bit more complicated than an objective "true vs. false." Cope.

I don't know about this LoRA author's motivations but there are obviously some maniacs who seek to erase the nation state of Iran and replace it with a corrupt puppet monarchy, which is what the "lion and sun" flag represents these days. Obviously the true flag in the real world is the one which is in use by the Islamic Republic of Iran with the four crescents, sword and the Shaddah, but some people might want to see something else in their fantasy creations.

@critissues The Lion and Sun flag is not merely a symbol of recent politics. The Lion and Sun symbol itself has ancient roots, with archaeological evidence dating back approximately 5,000 years to ancient Persia. One of the oldest known examples is a lapis lazuli seal from the Jiroft civilization, dating to around 3000 BCE, which depicts a lion associated with the rays of the sun.

For thousands of years, the Lion and Sun became one of Iran's most enduring national symbols, representing Iranian identity throughout different historical periods and appearing in various cultural, political, and international contexts.

The current flag of the Islamic Republic represents a terrorist group that Iranians consider to have lost its legitimacy after decades of repression, political restrictions, and the lack of free and fair elections. It should not be viewed as the only or permanent symbol of the Iranian nation.

It is also important to clarify that before 1979, Iran was a constitutional monarchy, not an absolute monarchy. Like many European constitutional monarchies today, Iran had a constitution, an elected parliament, and institutions that placed limits on royal authority.

@NeuralVandal I know that flag was used in the past, which is why I referred to its current implications these days. My intention wasn't to argue politics but to give some context about the flag. Oh well. You might note that each of the last 4 Shahs of Iran all died in exile. It seems the nation has modernized itself and definitely left monarchy behind, with good reason considering the torture prisons and other forms of oppression that the last one utilized.

Regarding validity and legitimacy, 1979 was a popular revolution by the people and you may have noticed (or not, if you only follow western news) that the Iranians have consistently rallied in support of their government, waving the flag with the emblem of the IR in the streets nightly, ever since the war started. You might also consider that the funeral of Ali Khamenei had the most participants of any funeral in history, tens of millions.

The lion and sun flag seems more popular in California and perhaps London.

@critissues I also said that It isn’t necessarily about modern and recent politics. The Lion and Sun has been and is the real identity of Iran for thousands of years. A terrorist group in a few decades can’t take this national identity away from the people.

About prison and torture, I think it’s you who has gotten involved with fake news and delusional leftist Western reports. I myself spent two years in the Islamic Republic’s prison and saw all its tortures, and I don’t want to say anything about its savage killings and suppression right now because it’s a truth that no longer needs retelling and no one can deny it.

But about SAVAK’s prisons and tortures, the lies have become so ironic and dramatic that even a cooked chicken would laugh at them. The Shah didn’t kill his biggest enemies and only exiled them, people like Khomeini, like Mossadegh, or the leaders of the communist groups who had taken up arms. The shootings were done with those very commies and khomeini supporters, in one incident they burned down an entire cinema and killed 400 people, One of the suspects which never recieved punishment in khomeni's regime later even got gov' position.

Even in recent years, the daughter of one of those same prisoners who later reached great power in the Islamic Republic, Fatemeh Rafsanjani, admitted in a live interview that the behavior of the Shah’s agents toward us wasn’t bad at all. When they came to arrest my father for the 2nd time, my mother was swearing at them and cursing them, but they never assaulted her or anything.

There are tens of these confessions that have been revealed till now.

Yet the leftist and socialist media spread these lies of the Islamic Republic that the Shah used to throw bears at the prisoners in prison 😀, and they’ve even made and released movies based on this ridiculous claim. They’ve been plowing through the truth and controling the media for half a century now.

In just one case, more than 200 people who had served their prison sentences and were about to be released were executed by firing squad all at once, and then Khalkhali said: “We kill them; if they’re innocent they go to God’s paradise and He rewards them, and if they’re guilty then we’ve done God’s work!”

During the eight years of Saddam’s invasion and full scale war against Iran we had fewer than 10,000 Iranian civilian casualties, but this terrorist regime in just two days gunned down more than 40,000 people in the streets.

And regarding Khamenei’s funeral, the best estimate with the utmost generosity is about a maximum of 500,000 people, not millions. If it was millions they wouldn't have to make AI images to print in their official newspapers. This millions figure you’re talking about is like the election votes for the Islamic Republic where 99 percent of the people voted yes for it? Because in no democratic election between any two options, even between God himself and the Devil, It wouldn't be possible for one side to get 99 percent of the votes. Human society and the human brain don’t work that way. Those people you say go out into the streets every night aren’t even one percent of Iran’s population, and the people are sick of them.

@NeuralVandal there have been violent events for sure, but where does your "more than 40,000" number come from? Weren't the official sources which recorded the deaths something like 3000, which included the policemen and state security personnel who were killed by the rioters?

@critissues You ask for official sources as If the most brutal regime in recent history allows indepndent reporters to come in and take names, this is just a base estimate from the people's reportings and video footages. some unpopular estimates even go over 90K but 40K is the most likely: for example in my relatively small city with just 220K population 107 people were shot down and killed, most of them by snipers and in the back of their heads, the real number is higher for sure because many wounded have been pulled out of hospitals and never been heard of again , these are the local numbers, now apply that to a nation wide protest in 203 cities . footages show that the biggest medical jurisprudence in tehran all five sheds have been full and there were bodies lying on the ground in bodybags for days, There are footages of columns of container trucks coming in and people waiting to find their loved ones, there are unconfirmed reports of mass graves and burning bodies. 3K IRGC reported number is a joke and not a funny one.

@NeuralVandal sounds like there's no basis for it other than propaganda. But of course it's only been half a year, so maybe in the near future the silent majority of the Iranian people who you claim are opposed to the state will manage to collect and publish the 40,000+ names of people who were disappeared.

In any case, calling Iran "the most brutal regime" is just incredibly silly. Palestine is being occupied by a regime which has been far more brutal. And consider how many millions of people USA killed in recent decades by not only military actions but their foreign policies. There's a recent British journal publication about this and it was estimated at 500,000 per year, or over 30 million people for the time they studied.

That's the "crab" emblem of Islamic republic and IRGC which Iranian people deny and hate it. Base Krea2 already contains that.
