Dark Fantasy — A Krea 2 LoRA
After spending a lot of time experimenting with dark, atmospheric fantasy imagery, I created Dark Fantasy, a new LoRA for Krea 2.
The goal was to capture a gritty, ominous, and visually intense fantasy aesthetic — ancient ruins, cursed kingdoms, dark warriors, mysterious creatures, gothic environments, dramatic lighting, deep shadows, and that feeling that something dangerous is always lurking just beyond the frame.

Special Thanks
I also want to give special credit to @TurinBjorn , whose artwork played a major role in making this LoRA possible.
I used a large portion of his images as training material, and his work had a significant influence on the visual direction of the model. I'm very grateful for the incredible source material, inspiration, and collaboration.
Notes from TurinBJorn are included below, covering the strengths, weaknesses, and recommended use cases of each version.
We've also put together a full article covering the LoRA, its concept, recommended settings, prompting techniques, examples, and our experience experimenting with it in Krea 2.

NOTES FROM TURINBJORN ( @TurinBjorn )
Hello all. I want to thank Ashman123 for letting me collaborate with him on this. I want to share a few notes with you about this specific LoRA.
The ratings are as follows:
Prompt Adherence - Determines how well the LoRA adheres to prompt to create a quality image.
Mimicry of Style - How strongly the LoRA mimics my own personal style and taste.
Default Krea 2 Styling - How much Krea 2 itself bleeds through versus doing it's own thing.
Other Style Adherence - How much the LoRA adheres to other styles, such as anime, etc.
Overall Detail - How much detail is put into the image. Think pixel density, more or less.
Creativity - How much the LoRA does it's own thing, and adds creative flair.
NSFW - How well the LoRA handles NSFW or 18+ imagery.
Color - Determines how much color is in the generated image.
Image Quality - The overall quality of the image, based against my particular style.
Dark Fantasy Black
Epochs: 8
Description
Black most closely resembles my current style as seen throughout my images. It's the middle ground of the bunch, has a very particular style, gets in, gets the job done, and makes no bones about it. It's broody, and while it handles prompts the best of the three, you might need to be very specific about what you want. This LoRA is crisp, detailed, and a great middle ground, but retains a very strong specific personality.

Best Use Cases
This works great as both a detailer, but also for setting a specific mood. This tends heavily towards semi-realistic skin tones. Out of the box, this produces the best overall imagery of the bunch, making it good for one shots, but also adaptable in other ways.
Themes & Styles
Works best in fantasy or dark fantasy settings, horror, pinups, and other semi-realistic styles. Possibly the best at pinup styles. Doesn't play well with cartoon or exaggerated styles, as it tends towards it's own thing.
Worst Use Cases
Although great at following prompts and being relatively conservative at times, it REALLY wants to mimic my particular style, which makes it the weakest for anime, cartoons, and extremely abstract concepts. It also suffers, for better or worse, from more crushed colors.
Dark Fantasy Gold
Epochs: 10
Description
Gold leans heavily into texture and detail, while also letting Krea 2 breath a bit. Whereas Black and Red pound a particular style into Krea 2, Gold reigns it back a bit, but stuffs it full of detail and adds back a bit of color into generations. Expect vignettes, excessive detail, and a more 'golden' hue to your images (hence the name). She's just on the cusp of going awry, and being overstuffed, but that's also what gives it some of it's best strengths, and it's weakest. This can produce the crunchiest images, which can be a great or bad thing.

Best Use Cases
Gold works best to add detail, texture, or complexity to a scene, making it great for inpainting. Since bodies are far less exaggerated, it could spice up photorealistic images, but also plays exceedingly well elsewhere. Also good when you want to add a creep or horror factor to images.
Themes & Styles
Works great with cartoon styles, adding a bit of realism while not totally losing the script. With less exaggerated bodies, it lends itself to detailing photorealistic images, but be careful. Exceedingly good at horror, really cranking up the ick factor in an eldritch sort of way.

Dark Fantasy Red
Epochs: 5
Description
Red is the sassiest of the LoRAs, and has a mind of it's own. When we got to the fifth epoch, the LoRA really took a turn in a different direction, and the creativity and styles of myself and Ashman finally broke free. However, this comes at a cost. This LoRA is unhinged, and a celebration of excess in every way. Bodies will be thicker (or thinner), colors can go all sorts of ways, and unlike Gold and Black, it's not always behaved. It's at the cusp of being undertrained, but that also makes a great randomizer and exaggerator. It has the most flaws, but also produces the most surprising results.

Best Use Cases
Like the others, this works great as a detailer, but really shines if you want exaggerated details, especially bodies. Expect the biggest butts, juiciest breasts, and more skin overall. This LoRA is a showoff. It works well as a randomizer as well, tossing in a ton of style which can go all sorts of different directions, and surprise your generations with new ideas.

Final Thoughts
Dark Fantasy was created to explore the darker side of fantasy imagery — from ancient ruins and cursed kingdoms to mysterious creatures, gothic environments, terrifying monsters, and characters who look like they've survived something they probably shouldn't have.
The three versions offer very different experiences:
Black gives you control and consistency.
Gold gives you detail and texture.
Red gives you chaos and creativity.
Try different strengths between 0.7 and 1.3 and experiment with combining the LoRA with different prompting styles. Small changes in strength can dramatically change how strongly the Dark Fantasy aesthetic influences your generation.
I hope you enjoy exploring the darker side of fantasy with Dark Fantasy. 🖤
