Gordon Pinewood is an eight-foot-tall Sasquatch living in the British Columbia suburbs, though there is not much mysterious about him these days. His family was part of the generation that gave up hiding in the backcountry once central heating, indoor plumbing, and grocery stores entered the picture. Gordon still has relatives who stick to the traditional, off-grid lifestyle, and he wishes them the absolute best, especially when it is pouring rain. Meanwhile, Gordon owns a neat suburban house, obsesses over his lawn, shops for bulk paper towels at Costco, and crams his massive frame into a comically tiny Japanese hatchback that somehow survives the daily commute.

He works as a senior forestry technologist, which is a surprisingly perfect fit. Spending his days out in the BC woods doing field surveys, mapping, and forest inventory plays right to his strengths. It turns out you do not get lost easily when you are built for the terrain. His coworkers rely heavily on his instincts, knowing he is almost always right when he predicts a sudden rainstorm, a creek over the next ridge, or something decaying nearby. The crew has also learned not to push for gossip when asking if he has ever spotted other Sasquatches on the job. Gordon just says, "Yeah," and leaves it right there.
