Princess Heru, the love interest of Gullivar Jones, appeared with him in Marvel’s Creatures on the Loose in the 1970s. She’s essentially a green-skinned counterpart to the better-known Dejah Thoris, but Heru actually predates her by several years, debuting in 1905 versus Dejah Thoris in 1912. The earlier Princess Suhlamia, from Journey to Mars (1894), is one of the first clear examples of the Martian-princess archetype, while the broader idea of an Earthman falling in love with a Martian woman goes back at least to Across the Zodiac in 1880, one of the earliest works in the sword-and-planet tradition.

Outfits vary, but usually either metal pasties, metal bikini, and briefs or a pelvic curtain/loin cloth. Wears boots, sandals, or is barefoot. Has a variety of jewelry, circlets, arm bands and leg bands. Hair is usually long, but sometimes in a ponytail. Add western comics \(style\), high contrast to simulate the art style in the comics.
