chauhanRealism SDXL Lightning is a photoreal Stable Diffusion XL checkpoint tuned for the Lightning schedule. It is meant to look like a photograph, not an illustration: visible skin texture, ordinary light, believable eyes, and environments that do not glow.
The speed comes from SDXL-Lightning, ByteDance’s progressive adversarial distillation of SDXL 1.0. A Lightning file is trained to finish in a fixed small number of steps. Quality depends on matching that schedule. The usual SDXL recipe — DPM++ 2M Karras, CFG 5–7, 25–30 steps — is the wrong recipe for this file.
Use it for portraits, full-body photographs, street and interior scenes, editorial stills, and character work that should read as camera-captured. It is not a painterly or anime checkpoint. For oil, watercolour, or pencil, stack a Chauhan style LoRA on top rather than asking the base to paint.
