About the characters:

2 of the main characters from Tony Daniel's sci-fi superhero series The Tenth, Esperanza Del Toro (aka "Espy") and Zorina Fine are the core human anchors who assist the main protagonist, Victor Deleon, a government agent turned into a hulking bio-engineered monster. As childhood best friends, their dynamic goes from unbreakable sisterly duo to dynamic to battle-hardened survival partners dealing with the ultimate costs of corporate warfare throughout the course of the comic.

Esperanza "Espy" Del Toro is a young woman living under a strict corporate curfew in Springdale, Colorado, whose life changes drastically when she discovers she has been genetically modified with alien DNA as a fetus by the series antagonist, Rhazes Darkk. This hybrid physiology manifests as powerful telekinetic abilities, giving her the strength to combat rogue bio-weapons. Her deepest connection is with Victor Deleon (aka The Tenth), an escaped government agent turned monster. Because Victor is psychically linked to Esperanza, they share a profound, symbiotic bond where she acts as his moral compass, calming his monstrous rage and keeping him anchored to his remaining humanity.

Zorina Fine acts as Esperanza's fiercely loyal childhood best friend, providing a vital, grounded human dynamic to the supernatural chaos. While Zorina doesn't initially inherit biological superpowers, her connection to the overarching conspiracy is deeply personal: her mother, Dr. Jaena Fine, is a top-tier scientist wrapped up in the Darkklon Corporation's dark schemes. Zorina often steersthe duo through dangerous escapes, uncovering government secrets via her secret agent father, and keeping Esperanza grounded when her telekinetic powers threaten to overwhelm her.
