TA86 SuperCel '94
I've done something different...at least for the whole training set ^^
Saturday morning anime, glowing CRT screens, colorful adventures, bold ink lines and a little 16-bit magic.
A love letter to the visual world of the 1990s.
Just a fun side project for my own stuff.
Short Description
TA86 SuperCel '94 is a nostalgic style LoRA built around classic 1990s Japanese TV anime aesthetics, colorful 16-bit console-era illustrations, expressive character designs, bold ink contours, vibrant colors and traditional cel shading.
It brings together the charm of hand-drawn animation, the adventurous spirit of classic video games and the distinctive visual language of an era filled with exaggerated expressions, dramatic poses and unforgettable silhouettes.
The LoRA was trained on a diverse collection of characters, animals, creatures, objects, interiors, architecture, landscapes and complete environments.
The goal was to create a consistent visual identity that works across many different subjects.
It is not primarily a pixel-art LoRA. The focus is on the illustrated world surrounding classic 16-bit games: character artwork, promotional illustrations, animated scenes and colorful hand-drawn environments.
Main Trigger
ta86supercel94
Place it near the beginning of the prompt.
Useful supporting concepts include:
1990s anime, retro anime, hand-drawn cel animation, 16-bit game illustration, bold ink outlines, hard cel shading, vibrant colors, vintage anime, retro video game artwork, analog warmth
You do not need to use all of them.
If you do not like long descriptions or the idea behind it, stop reading here ;)
Visual Identity
The LoRA tends toward:
classic early-to-mid 1990s Japanese anime aesthetics
nostalgic 16-bit console-era promotional artwork
bold black and deep-navy ink outlines
expressive linework with varying thickness
clean, recognizable character silhouettes
traditional two-step cel shading with hard shadow edges
vibrant cobalt blue, turquoise, vermilion, yellow and orange accents
warm skin tones and rich indigo shadows
expressive faces, angular hairstyles and dynamic anatomy
energetic poses and dramatic perspectives
simplified yet detailed mechanical and architectural designs
hand-painted environmental backgrounds
subtle analog grain and vintage animation warmth
colorful, adventurous and slightly imperfect 2D illustration aesthetics
The style can be playful, energetic and extremely colorful, but it does not have to be.
Quiet interiors, atmospheric landscapes, mysterious creatures, dark fantasy settings and peaceful everyday moments can work just as well.
The important part is the visual treatment, not the subject itself.
Good For
Anime characters, portraits, full-body illustrations, martial artists, fantasy heroes, original video game characters, animal mascots, creatures, monsters, robots, vehicles, retro technology, architecture, interiors, landscapes and complete illustrated worlds.
It can be especially fun for:
classic arcade fighting-game characters
colorful platform-adventure heroes
fantasy RPG characters and creatures
nostalgic slice-of-life anime scenes
cozy lofi bedrooms and everyday moments
original mechanical and mecha designs
retro-futuristic environments
stylized animals and expressive mascots
imaginative worlds with unusual perspectives
The fun part is pushing the style beyond its obvious 1990s associations.
A medieval cathedral, a giant mechanical whale, a supermarket, a futuristic spacecraft or an ordinary coffee machine can all become part of the same illustrated universe.
Prompting
Describe the actual subject first and let the LoRA influence the illustration style.
For stronger results, describe:
the character, creature, object or environment
pose and expression
camera angle and composition
lighting and colors
a few distinctive design elements
You do not need extremely long prompts.
Example — Classic Anime
ta86supercel94, a 28-year-old woman with short dark hair and amber eyes, wearing a colorful windbreaker, leaning against a balcony railing on a sunny afternoon, three-quarter portrait, nostalgic city rooftops, warm golden light, classic 1990s anime atmosphere
Example — Retro Video Game
ta86supercel94, an original fantasy arcade hero with spiky copper hair, turquoise armor and a flowing red scarf, jumping across ancient floating ruins, dynamic full-body action pose, dramatic low angle, vibrant 16-bit adventure-game illustration
Example — Animal Mascot
ta86supercel94, a cheerful orange fox with enormous expressive eyes and a fluffy tail, wearing a tiny blue explorer jacket, running through a colorful mountain village, playful expression, dynamic perspective, retro anime character illustration
Example — Environment
ta86supercel94, an empty Japanese railway station at sunset, turquoise metal railings, warm orange sky, long geometric shadows, dramatic diagonal perspective, nostalgic hand-drawn anime background
Example — Something Different
ta86supercel94, an enormous ancient mechanical jellyfish floating above a Gothic cathedral, translucent turquoise tentacles, glowing amber machinery, extreme low angle, dramatic clouds, surreal fantasy architecture
Experiment.
The LoRA was intentionally trained on very different subjects, compositions and environments, so there is no single "correct" way to use it.
Suggested Strength
0.6 – 0.8
A lighter stylistic influence, useful for experimenting with other aesthetics and combining different visual approaches.
0.8 – 1.1
Suggested starting range for the full SuperCel '94 aesthetic.
Higher values may emphasize the ink contours, graphic shading, saturated colors and stylized character shapes more strongly.
These are starting points. The ideal strength depends on the model, prompt and desired result.
Notes
The LoRA is inspired by the broader visual language of 1990s anime and video games, with an emphasis on original characters and designs.
It is not intended to reproduce specific copyrighted characters or game franchises.
A few things worth trying:
Try a simple portrait.
Try an arcade fighter.
Try a peaceful summer afternoon.
Try a giant robot.
Try an ordinary household object.
Try a completely ridiculous fantasy creature.
And don't forget the backgrounds.
The LoRA was trained on environments and architecture as well as characters, so it is worth experimenting with complete scenes.
You can also combine the style with other artistic directions. A little pixel-art influence, a hint of comic-book illustration, retro-futurism, dark fantasy or even something completely unexpected might create interesting results.
SuperCel '94 is meant to bring the feeling of a forgotten 1990s anime or video game into subjects that never existed back then.
Not just nostalgia.
A whole imaginary world that feels like it could have existed on an old CRT screen.
