British classic sports car maker MG is back. The upcoming Cyberster is an electric version of the two-seat sports car that MG made its name – but the company isn't stopping there. The EXE181 is an electric supercar that pays homage to the streamlined prototype that set the land speed record in 1959. The original EXE181 was powered by a 1.5-liter twin-cam supercharged engine producing 300 horsepower and reached a class-record speed of 254.91 MPH at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The new EXE181 is inspired by the original's teardrop styling, but swaps the ICE for a four-motor electric powertrain suspected of producing over 1,000 horsepower. The single-seat cockpit is centrally located, with the steering wheel doubling as the instrument panel and other car controls. MG has not revealed any production plans, but the launch of a range of new cars and a shift to electric vehicles suggest the automaker is eyeing the future.
