UPDATE: Illustrious model version now available!
Illustrious version uses a slightly bigger dataset and I'd say is mostly an improvement. Only real issue is that it sometimes may have issues generating the curl of hair in front of Vivian's face properly (which was a problem to a lesser extent on the Pony model too), though it can easily be fixed with a bit of inpainting.
Illustrious version trained on the base Illustrious-XL model, though I'd personally recommend using other checkpoint models for generating images.
Pony version trained on AutismMix SDXL.

My girl!
Metadata shows it got tagged as
vivian_(\\paper_mario\\)
You should avoid using backslashes in tagging. When using a webui, they're used to read the next character as a character, useful to have it read tags with brackets in them. Example, the current e6 tag for vivian is:
vivian_(mario)
Using the above tag would have the webui ignore the brackets, and put emphasis on "mario". Typing with backslashes before each bracket tells the webui to read each bracket as a bracket. So, it would look like this typed out in a webui:
vivian_\(mario\)
Maybe I'm outdated or wrong on this, but pretty sure this is at least how it used to be. Unsure if it still is, it might, idk.
there was a way to assign tags to another character the whole time? so i don't have to be lucky when prompting two separate generic characters anymore?
