Jubilation Lee, known as Jubilee, first appeared in The Uncanny X-Men #244 (May 1989), created by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri. Introduced as a teenage runaway of Chinese-American descent living in a Los Angeles mall after her parents' assassination, she discovered her mutant ability to generate explosive energy plasmoids resembling fireworks while evading security. Impressed by the X-Men, she secretly followed them to Australia, eventually revealing herself and forming a close bond with Wolverine, who became a mentor and father figure. Jubilee joined the X-Men, serving as Wolverine's sidekick during the team's Reavers era and later becoming a founding member of Generation X in the mid-1990s, where she honed her skills and developed relationships with peers.
Significant developments include her depowerment during the 2005 "Decimation" event in House of M's aftermath, leading her to adopt the alias Wondra and use technology-enhanced powers in the New Warriors. In 2011, she was turned into a vampire after exposure to a virus, exploring this darker phase in Wolverine and Jubilee and aligning with the Forgiven vampire group. She adopted an orphaned boy named Shogo, embracing motherhood amid her struggles.
More recently, Jubilee was cured of vampirism and had her mutant powers restored through Quentin Quire's intervention. During the Krakoan era, she served on Excalibur and maintained her optimistic personality. As of late 2025, following the Fall of X, she is a key member of Rogue's Uncanny X-Men team based in New Orleans, starring in the ongoing Uncanny X-Men (2024) series up to at least issue #16, and featured in the 2024 miniseries X-Men: Blood Hunt - Jubilee, continuing to embody resilience, mentorship, and cheerful heroism.
