I was trying to get an image of a woman with multicolor box braids and had a hard time even with trying several checkpoints.

I'm happy with the way this lora came out.

Some things to try along with the "box braids" trigger:

updo, pigtails, crown, bun, long, short, micro, thick, thin, bob, multicolor

try a variety of colors. use:

color2color--something like orange2yellow or black2green

It was trained with pink, blue, light blue, blonde, black, yellow, red, orange, brown, silver, white

This worked best for me at strength 1.0 but it did work fine during testing with various checkpoints at 0.8 or 1.2.

It was also trained with all black woman so you'll probably get a black woman without prompting.

Probably a light skin tone, however. Check out my black woman lora to get darker tones.
