I want to be able to generate both safe and not safe images. do i need both models? or can I use the NSFW for both?
You can use either! Nsfw version is better for nsfw and probably artistic portraits, whereas base version might be better for photorealism.

Is the inpainting version based on the nsfw model or standard model?
It is based on the standard model.
Why is the inpainting model available with this? What good is it for? Can't you do inpainting with the standard model? Do you get precise results if you were to use the inpainting model?
inpainting model is significantly better at inpainting and outpainting than the standard one.
