You're going to get a lot less engagement without including a safetensor version...
I have heard that safetensor files are safer, but I do not know how or why. What's up with them?
That's fine. I don't care to spend an hour and a half converting it and uploading it though, feel free to use this version if you want. your welcome.
@templeam711 essentially there's a small chance that someone with malicious intent could change some code around and do harmful stuff to your computer. a safetensor removes that risk. It's almost in the name itself.
What a lot of people fail to realize such as @Harmil is that CivitAI has you scan the file before you upload it. You as a user yourself can also scan the file independently if you'd like. With nearly accumulated over 1000 downloads and relatively no complaints with any of my models results you're in pretty good hands here... I can't speak for anyone else uploading their models.
@mrpbody Thanks for that. I'm trying to understand the specifics of the attack in a .ckpt file, and why a .safetensors file removes that vector.
just gonna throw this out there, its a 10 second click to convert something to safetensors.
@sophialyn being that ive made over 30 of these i can say it will take a lot longer then that. but again your welcome.
@sophialyn converting a checkpoint to safetensors involves loading it which exposes you to the risk of malicious content. Also @mrpbody Civit has been very slow in scanning lately, so I wouldn't say every model uploaded will be scanned. I wasn't expecting you to rush to update this, but it's something to keep in mind for any future updates. It's just good hygiene.
