Safetensors support is a reasonable expectation for every Stable Diffusion implementation at this point, and nearly all implementations do. You are free to use one that does not, but it places the burden on you, not the various model creators, to obtain the models you want to use in a format that your preferred SD system supports.

You're the only person who has asked for a pickle version of this model, compared to over 1500 downloads of the safetensors version. Asking the maker of every model of interest to you to create and upload a ckpt format just for a couple people who prefer an obsolete implementation is unreasonable. Base models take non-trivial time to make and upload, especially considering their large size, and they would have to do it each time they release a new version.

I'd encourage you to try one of implementations that supports safetensors, such as Automatic1111's webui, ComfyUI, or InvokeAI, if you're open to the idea. They are all excellent options with frequent updates and large user base. If you are firm on continuing to use your current system, you should write a Python script to convert downloaded safetensors files to pickles. (Converting a downloaded safetensors file to ckpt is also safer than downloading a ckpt.) If you don't know how and don't want to learn, perhaps you can ask or hire someone else to write one for you.

i really dont get what the differnce between the checkpoint files are i just know when i hit import button safetensores dont show up... and some people freak out as if they think pickles automatically means virus , when thats obviously not the case,

@ffoff While it doesn't automatically indicate a virus, there have been reports of malicious pickle checkpoint downloads.

If you're using Dream Textures, check if safetensors has been implemented. If not, it supports the diffusers backend preferred by HuggingFace. Most models on HuggingFace have a diffusers format available. Fluffyrock models, for example, offer downloadable diffusers formats like this one. There are utilities that can convert diffusers to ckpt and vice versa. I recently used the diffusers2ckpt script myself.

Contact the plugin developer and request safetensors file support or at least a conversion script. They should prioritize user safety. Explore other AI plugins for Blender that might support safetensors. Some plugins allow Automatic1111 or other systems as a backend generator.

As a last resort, Automatic1111 has a built-in utility to convert models from safetensors to ckpt (and ckpt to safetensors), which is safer than downloading a ckpt. Consider installing it for conversion purposes. I may consider creating a standalone safetensors to ckpt (and vice versa) converter based on the Automatic1111 code and will notify you if I do.

@ffoff I'm glad that's working for you! So the diffusers format works okay for the tool you use? I saw that the Vlad fork for the Automatic1111 webui is adding support for diffusers, so maybe that will become more common going forward, which would mean even more models available for you without having to convert them.

@dita neat, and yeah fluffyrock seems to be 1 of the better ones i've tried and is great for multiple species i been having fun seeing what it knows how to make

@ffoff I haven't really played a lot with it, and i've not done a lot with most of the furry models, but eventually I'll get to them. 😅 Fluffyrock seems to be the "it" model these days, though.
